Lunch and Learn: Neurodiversity-Affirming Therapy: Practical Skills for Helping Neurodivergent Clients Thrive

1.5 hour (1.5 Continuing Education Credits)

$25 for Members

$50 for Non-Members

Description (virtual workshop on zoom):

The neurodiversity paradigm offers a strengths-based framework for understanding Autism, ADHD, learning differences, and other forms of neurodivergence as natural variations in human cognition rather than deficits to be fixed. This workshop introduces clinicians to the core principles of the neurodiversity paradigm and explores how these principles can be integrated into clinical practice. Participants will learn how traditional therapeutic approaches may inadvertently pathologize neurodivergent experiences and how to shift toward a neurodivergent-affirming model of care. Through case examples, discussion, and experiential activities, clinicians will learn how to offer more accessible, validating, and effective care to neurodivergent clients. Topics covered will include identity affirmation, addressing sensory needs and communication differences, accommodations in therapy, and developing strong therapeutic alliances.
