Serving Those Who Served: Foundations of Military-Affirming Outpatient Care (Basic)

Description: 

This foundational training introduces clinicians to core military cultural dynamics that shape clinical presentation, engagement, and help-seeking. Participants will learn practical alliance-building strategies, a simplified clinical formulation framework for common military-related symptom patterns, ethical ways to address meaning and identity stressors, and scope-safe approaches for supporting clients who are navigating administrative systems. The course also includes essential safety fundamentals relevant to military populations, including respectful direct-risk inquiry and nonjudgmental lethal means safety conversations.

Participants receive: practical course tools for immediate use in outpatient settings.

About the Presenter: Andrew DiLeo, DD, LMHC, MPC, MS Ed

Andrew DiLeo is an active MaMHCA member.  He runs a Veteran owned an operated counseling service, is a former Army Chaplain, and has been counseling families and individuals since 2001.
