Lunch and Learn: Substance Abuse and Family Systems

Description:

In service of the Diversity-Informed Tenet that “Self-awareness leads to better services for families” this workshop will support each participant to identify personal layers of internalized bias which can be present in the therapy space when working with children and families. Participants will work independently to create their own cultural genogram and then through small group discussions will identify bias and assumptions stemming from personal ancestral privilege. Participants will practice supporting and challenging each other, collaborating to identify and dismantle the “Cop in the Head.” Upon completion of the session, participants will leave having identified areas for further study and growth to continue their own journey of internal dismantling and decolonization, and with opportunities for further community-building to continue the practice.
