CE: Supervision of Expressive Therapies

  • 12/11/2022
  • 9:00 AM - 1:15 PM
  • Virtual on Zoom

When talk therapy isn’t enough, or becomes “event reporting” rather than therapy, it’s time to think at the edges of the box.  This is where expressive therapies and action methods are helpful.  As a Supervisor, it is useful to know not only when to employ such methods for maximum effect, but how to guide your supervisees in doing so.

This training will focus on several Expressive Therapy modalities, including Art, Movement, Narrative, Poetry, Sound/Music, Sandtray and  Theater/Drama.  Through case studies and experiential exercises, you will learn how to use these modalities in supervision, as well as how to guide your supervisees in their use during sessions. Dress comfortably, as you may find yourself wanting to move!

MaMHCA Supervisor Training Programs Mission Statement

The Mission of the MaMHCA Supervision Training Programs is to provide the highest quality training in supervision theory and practice for LMHC Supervisors. Both the MaMHCA Approved Supervisor Certificate (MaASC) and the advanced MaMHCA Certified Clinical Supervisor (MaCCS) programs will offer continuing education in theory and practice in supervision skills, national and Massachusetts ethical & legal standards for supervision, and the ongoing growth and evolution/development of knowledge, roles and requirements for qualified supervisors.

Certificate holders will also demonstrate the ability to model appropriate professional skills and behavior, ethical standards, and the ability to actively use concepts learned in the training.
