MaMHCA Supervision Track

Spatial-Visual Supervision

Most Clinical Supervision is conducted via verbal presentation by the clinician (occasionally with videotaped recordings) and subsequent verbal feedback from the supervisor. By contrast, the methods learned in this highly interactive workshop make use of the selection, placement, and movement of table-top figurines, offering many of the benefits of sand tray therapy, but with the additional advantages of hypothesis formulation and testing. Two volunteer online participants may each present a supervision case; volunteers prepare for this workshop by writing both a one-paragraph case summary (focusing on the client-therapist system) and a one-paragraph description of salient supervision dynamics (focusing on the therapist-supervisor system). The techniques demonstrated are useful in the supervision of individual, couple, and family therapy cases across diverse theoretical orientations.

This workshop is approved to fulfill the initial or renewal requirements for the MaMHCA Advanced Certified Clinical Supervisor Credential (MACCS).

MaMHCA Supervisor Training Programs Mission Statement

The Mission of the MaMHCA Supervision Training Programs is to provide the highest quality training in supervision theory and practice for LMHC Supervisors. Both the MaMHCA Approved Supervisor Certificate (MaASC) and the advanced MaMHCA Certified Clinical Supervisor (MaCCS) programs will offer continuing education in theory and practice in supervision skills, national and Massachusetts ethical & legal standards for supervision, and the ongoing growth and evolution/development of knowledge, roles and requirements for qualified supervisors.

Certificate holders will also demonstrate the ability to model appropriate professional skills and behavior, ethical standards, and the ability to actively use concepts learned in the training.
