The need to sound our grief is older than human speech and we share it with other grieving
species. At this time, with the world's suffering everywhere around and within us, we offer a
safe space to explore the ancient practice of lamentation. We will work with the mourning
ritual of keening as our ancestors through history have done, both individually and in a circle of sound. This natural somatic release frees feelings beneath words into sounding what
cannot be said. Opening our own body-voices as healers helps us to guide others through
grief with deepened empathy, compassion, and skill.
