Therapists cannot be available to our clients 24/7, and often feel like we don't know what 'coping skills' are portable and safe for client use without therapist's supervision [aka 'in session only'].
In this workshop we will learn how to take risks and try new things, to allow our clients to do a bit for themselves, and to work together with clients to create safe places and a resources toy box.

Toys, Tools, Tips, and Tricks for Empowering Clients  to Manage Emotional Self-Regulation: Adventures in Learning to Take Healthy Risks and Land in Safe Places

Live on ZOOM!

This experiential workshop will provide participants with opportunity to play with, try on, try out and take risks on new approaches to emotional regulation. Often the biggest challenge to implementing new skills in session is the therapist's fear of taking a risk and 'failing."  Only by taking those risks, and expecting positive or neutral outcomes, can we comfortably teach our clients and supervisees to do the same. By exploring new ways to use old skills, and add new tools to the toy box, clinicians and supervisors will gain practical hands-on resources to share with their clients and supervisees.

Presenter: Jami Osborne, LMHC, MACCS, RDT/BCT

Jami Osborne has over 30 years of counseling experience with populations across the lifespan. As an expressive and drama therapist, she has learned to improvise and experiment collaboratively with her clients. Together, she and her clients and supervisees have developed, modified and collected various toys, tips, tricks and tools for empowering clients [and supervisees] to manage emotional self-regulation between therapy sessions.
