Recovery from Harvey - Message from MaMHCA President Elizabeth Handley

Elizabeth Handley, MaMHCA President

Sept. 2, 2017

In a posting to the AMHCA Community Forums (http://www.amhca.org/communities/community-home) MaMHCA President, Elizabeth Handley, LMHC, communicated a message of thought and support to colleagues and victims of the devastation from Hurricane Harvey in Texas and Louisianna. As indicated in the post (copied below) MaMHCA is encouraging it's members to donate or support the victims however possible.

MaMHCA has made a donation to an organization providing relief for Harvey victims. There are a number of national organizations that are taking donations specifically for Harvey, including but not limited to:

For those looking for more resources about where to donate, including more national and local organizations and how to avoid scams, The New York Times published and article (available online here) with exactly that information.

Massachusetts is grateful to have a forum here on the AMHCA Communities Page that allows us to communicate with our colleagues in Texas and Louisiana to let them know that we here in Massachusetts are thinking of them.  We send our wishes and prayers for your safety and that of your friends, families, neighbors, and your communities.

While we cannot imagine what you are enduring, we do stand ready to help! If there is anything that MaMHCA can do to, please do not hesitate to reach out to us now or in the future. We are learning about the long recovery you all have ahead of you, individually and as an organization, and we will be very proud to assist you in any way that we can.

We have reached out to our members and have asked them to contribute to recovery efforts in any way that they can. We look forward to witnessing your resilience and strength.

With very best wishes,

Elizabeth Handley
