MaMHCA’s 2023 Annual Conference on Working with Neurodiverse Clients is behind us. MaMHCA wants to thank all the members who joined us for our first in-person event since 2019.  Our President’s Reception on Friday night saw folks networking, munching, and engaging in a few playful moments, while raising almost $500 for the Haberman-Williams Scholarship Fund.

Saturday’s conference was filled with great workshops, wonderful networking among the 140 attendees, and good information from our sponsors.  While it was a lot of work, we also had fun, especially with a fantastic raffle with offerings for therapists to use with clients, or for themselves.  The raffle raised nearly $500 for the Haberman-Williams Scholarship fund!

The Conference Committee deserves kudos for a wonderful event. Our team has already begun planning for next year’s conference, topic, date and location to be revealed as soon as we sort that out.  In the meantime, join MaMHCA at any of our virtual workshops throughout the rest of 2023.

Katie Thomas/Fundraising, Aleeya Ensign/Web Communications, Joe Weeks/Public Policy & Legislation, Jami Osborne/President & Professional Development Director, Midge Williams/Executive Director, Berna Haberman/President Emeritus, Venita Qualls/President Elect, Evan Schinell/Special Grants, Ariel Axelrod/Home Study, Quinn Hayes/Secretary

Missing: Jenn Hurley/Membership & Special Projects, Christine Cassidy/Treasurer, France Neff/DEI, David Mc Allister/Scholarship, John Ciervo/Past President

Back by popular demand: our virtual private practice networking event will be held October 13th from 12pm-1:30pm. Join us for a lunchtime meet and greet with LMHC members in private practice from all over the state. Registration is online and free for members. Please bring the following in anticipation of sharing: information about you and your practice (of course!), what information YOU are looking for (a resource, referral partners, peer consultation groups, etc.) and please bring: ONE recommendation for a resource for your peers! This could be a prescriber that you recommend, a training you have enjoyed relating to private practice, an organization that provides great groups for a population, etc. We will compile a list of resources in the chat for everyone to share.

You may find more information about the event here on our events page: Private Practice Members Networking Event. If you have any questions, you may contact Jenn Hurley at jhurley@mamhca.org.

As you know, MaMHCA hosts an annual conference every fall. (This year it is in person in Marlborough - see more about the conference here: https://www.mamhca.org/annual-conference.) During this event, we have the wonderful opportunity to distribute awards to deserving Mental Health Counselors for a variety of categories - Mental Health Counselor of the Year, Counselor Educator of the Year, even a Mental Health Organization of the Year, to name a few. It is always our hope that colleagues in the field will nominate their peers so that the unnoticed, fantastic professionals that we do not know come to our attention. Awards nominations are open NOW for review for the 2023 conference in October! Please review the awards descriptions here: https://www.mamhca.org/awards-and-scholarships and consider nominating a peer today!
