MaMHCA Happenings June 2021 Update

June brought some exciting events to the MaMHCA calendar:

Our First Virtual Open House was held June 18th.  Jenn Hurley did a fantastic job as Hostess Extraordinaire, deftly facilitating back-to-back presentations, holding raffles, and running a trivia contest.  Well done, Jenn!  And, a testament to the success, we have over 100 people registered for various parts of the day!

June 24th saw a Remote Rally for Independent Licensing Board and Entry Level LMHC Licenses, attended by nearly 80 people, with many Representatives and Senators from around the Commonwealth joining us, listening and asking important questions.

The Joint Committee on Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services held a virtual hearing on June 28th, where Midge Williams, MaMHCA Executive Director, Stacey Pimentel, LMHC, Jami Osborne LMHC & John Ciervo, LMHC, MaMHCA’s President as of July 1, gave oral testimony in support of granting LMHCs the ability to request additional evaluation of our clients when they are in crisis [aka Section 12].  Although the hearing has past, there is still time to submit written testimony.  For more information, contact Joe Weeks, Policy Chair for MaMHCA at jweeks@mamhca.org.
