Spirituality & Mental Health Treatment

Although a client's connection to a regular practice that brings calm and centering is important, many clinicians are wary of bringing up the topic of Spirituality or Religion.  It often, especially in these recent times, feels politically or socially inappropriate to talk about this topic.  Yet many intake forms, including MBHP and other MassHealth documents, ask us to inquire about the client's religious or spiritual supports.

Learn how to ask the questions, assess your own biases and fears, and gain an increased level of comfort with exploring what it means to you and your client to identify with Spirituality,

with Meg Connor, MHC & Jami Osborne, LMHC, MaCCS

About our Presenters:

Meg Connor, LMHC, is on the faculty at Lesley University, and has presented many times over the years on the topic of Spirituality in Counseling.  Meg is MaMHCA's faculty for Frameworks of Supervision and Nurturing a Growth Mindset in Supervision. Kripalu was Meg's home base for amny years, and she brings her mindfulness training to all she does.

Jami Osborne, LMCH, MacCS, is a familiar presence in MaMHCA.  For this workshop, Jami brings over 50 years of learning from indgenous healers how to treat mental health challenges with a Spiritual perspective. Jami worked closely with Jon Kabat-Zinn & Dr Herbert Benson in the early 1980's as they began to develop the field on mindfulness treatment and mind-body connection.  A focus on the use of the individual's own electro-magnetic field to empower the client toward optimal well-being has been a subject of interest and a topic of exploration since Jami was a young child.
