Advocacy Meeting with Gubernatorial Candidates
January 22, 2014 01:23 PM
MaMHCA will be joining the Association for Behavioral Healthcare (ABH) and the Children’s Mental Health Campaign (CMHC) to invite the declared gubernatorial candidates to a series of private meetings this winter regarding the state of behavioral healthcare in Massachusetts, to discuss what policies they would pursue as Governor to increase access to mental health and addiction services.
We are concerned that despite the large number of Massachusetts residents who could benefit from outpatient and inpatient behavioral health services, access to these services is diminishing. It is imperative that individuals be able to access the services they need, when they want them, where they want them. These services should be person-centered, outcome-oriented and both clinically and cost effective. Materials that outline the current state of the behavioral health system in Massachusetts will be provided for all participants prior to the meeting with the candidates.
