Ethical Issues for the Informed Clinician: A Professional Plan of Action for Transfer of Records
3 Category II MMCEP Approved CEs
This workshop will present a Professional Plan of Action for continuity of care and the transfer of records when a therapist becomes incapacitated or dies. The ACA, AMHCA, and AAMFT Codes of Ethics address this issue. Are you prepared? This workshop covers the importance of a Personal Plan of Action, and includes a brief review of the Codes of Ethics and the law as they pertain to this subject. The participants will receive an outline to develop their own Personal Plan of Action. This will include the client contact, informed consent information, a list of legal documents needed and the many components n ecessary to fulfill ethical and legal responsibilities. Discover why a “Professional Will” is not sufficient to comply with the Codes of Ethics.

Ethical Issues for the Informed Clinician: Rules, Roles, Regulations & Responsibilities

This three hour interactive program will review basic, though complex ethical considerations faced by clinicians today in public, private, forensic and military settings. Case studies and dilemmas will be presented. Participants are encouraged to share ethical issues they have encountered. As time and interest dictate topics will include confidentiality and privilege, informed consent, payment, contracting, mandated duties such as Tarasoff and reporting to DCF, conflicts of interest, dual relationships and forensic entanglements. The seminar will include both lecture and small group opportunities.

Psychotherapy, Yoga and Mindfulness: An Integrated Approach

Current neuroscientific research supports the effects of body/mind integration and the use of yoga & mindfulness as potent clinical interventions. This workshop will provide an overview of yoga as a complimentary treatment, and the application of yoga principles into clinical practice. Clinical tools that can be used for clients with depression, anxiety, stress, ADHD, PTSD will be presented. Through the use of breathing techniques, yoga poses, and present moment awareness, mood regulation improves.

Clinicians of all levels are welcome, and no yoga experience is necessary. The workshop will culminate in an optional 1-hour yoga class that people may participate in or choose to observe

Clinical Applications of the Creative Arts

This workshop will provide an overview of creative arts therapy and its application in clinical practice with diverse populations across different treatment settings. A variety of modalities including art, drama, yoga/movement, and music will be explored through discussion and experientials. Participants will leave with examples of how the creative arts are used in therapy.

Course objectives/educational goals:

  1. Participants will learn about the clinical applications of creative arts in therapy.
  2. Participants will gain a solid understanding of how directives are designed and implemented through discussion of cases and presentation of client artwork.
  3. Participants will experience hands-on examples of techniques used with clients.
