Supervision: Risk Management in the Treatment
of Trauma & Neglect |
3 CEs |
| with Janina Fischer |

Clients with histories of trauma and neglect present special therapeutic challenges for both therapist and supervisor: The symptoms can be intense and baffling; trauma-related attachment issues complicate the transference; and impulsive and/or suicidal behavior raise questions about risk management. This workshop will present a model for understanding the underlying neurobiological causes of these challenges which can enable the supervisor to make sense of the overwhelming symptoms and offer more informed treatment recommendations. In addition, trauma-related transference and risk-management issues will be addressed, along with interventions meant to anticipate and address these issues well before they confound the treatment.
